Time-coded chipless RFID tags with circular polarization AUTHOR: Xavier Domènech Figueras DIRECTOR: David Girbau Sala Electronic Address: xavier.domenechf@estudiants.urv.cat Abstract: This Project consists of the research and design of chipless UWB-RFID tags which provide circular polarization. Specifically, this project is about time-coded tags based on UWB antennas with a delay line integrated. The project has different phases, it begins with a literature review about other authors’ previously designed antennas which are suitable for an UWB-RFID tag. Best antennas are selected, adapted to Rogers substrate and optimized to work in the 3-5 GHz frequency band. Also delay lines are designed and integrated to the antennas as a proof of concept. Finally, the designed tags are manufactured and measured using a low-cost UWB radar. These measures consist of the tag detection at different distances to set up its range and in the measurement of the tag at different tag-reader angles to demonstrate the good performance of the circular polarization.
