  • Identification data

    Authors:  Gonzalez Reinoso, Javiera Valentina
    Abstract:
This study explores three Disney films' translation process from English to Spanish, analyzing the use of English dialects for a Spanish-speaking children's audience and analyzing the relationship between dialects and audiovisual translation, focusing on the films “Lilo & Stitch,” “Vaiana” and “Brave.” The study aims to determine why significant changes were made in Spanish dubbing and whether the original dialects were considered. The three films feature several dialects, including Hawaiian Pidgin English, Polynesian, Maori, Samoan, Pacific Islander English and Scots. The thesis concludes with reflections on dialectal audiovisual translations and the insights and concerns gained.
