    Abstract:
ABSTRACT The health professional is present in all stages of the life cycle of the person and each time more frequently at the time of his death. Death now happens in a hospital context in 60% of cases. This institutionalized and medicalized death is a cold, distant and completely depersonalised public death. Feelings and emotions directly affect the nursing professional to live every day of your life with the suffering and death of another human being. On numerous occasions is nurse who first detects that the patient is in situation in recent days, these situations creates in them a sense of helplessness to be not taken into account in the decision-making process, or when they cannot express their professional opinion to limit therapeutic effort when this does not benefit the patient and only prolongs the agony. Avoid therapeutic obstinacy, adapt care to palliative care, and focus them within a multidisciplinary work, taking into account all areas of the individual, psychological, social, and emotional. Involve the patient and the family within the taking of decisions, give validity to the directives document and the right to have a death worthy, they are pending subjects within the care to the dying patient in a public hospital in tertiary level health care units, where death is experienced as a therapeutic failure and not as the final stage of the life cycle of every human being. This is why proper training of all health professionals is necessary to ensure care that guarantee a quality of life and quality of death to the patient who is in a situation of recent days.
