Abstract:
Abstract Introduction: Accidents suppose a pandemic in our society. From the WHO’s point of view, the originated disabilities will be the third reason for the loss of years of life worldwide adjusted to quality in 2020. Lot of the deaths that take part during the first minutes of the accident are secondary to injuries which are incompatible with life in serious traumas. Besides a necessary accident prevention policy, the usage of an efficient and effective triage system, together with an activation code for the severe traumatic person which optimizes the assistance of patients, and a registry that systematically collects the most important data, can all minimize the morbidity and mortality of the affected people. Objectives: The aim of this project is to perform an exhaustive literature research about the patient care and to become acquainted about the role of nursing in the Triage, the Activation of Codes and the Registry. Material and method: A bibliographic research had been carried out about investigation articles related to the trauma patient care and the triage inside and outside the hospital with the purpose of learning the role of the nursing profession in these contexts and the current status of this topic. For the performance of this bibliographic research the databases consulted, related to the health sciences, have been Enferurg, Cuiden, ENFISPO, Revista Científica de la Sociedad Española de Medicina de Urgencias y Emergencias’ databases: EMERGENCIAS, and the specialized search Google: Google Academic. All of them related to nursing. Results: Once inclusion and exclusion criteria have been applied, the total number of articles has turned out to be 22, from which 12 articles are about the triage, 3 about the codes activation and 7 of them about the trauma registries. Conclusions: The participation of nursing professionals in the initial care of the multiple trauma patients, such as the development of the structured triage systems, results positive as it reduces the morbidity and the mortality of the severe trauma patient and manages the demand at the Accident and Emergency services. The activation of the Codes is positive due to the fact that it gets to be activated as a protocol by all the participant agents, the care chain. The Registry Systems have an important function at the improvement of the system as they provide us data to improve our attention. The consulted literature furthermore shows that the nursing profession still has a margin to improve, referring to effectiveness and efficiency, as it is demonstrated in other countries, where the practical nurse does already enjoys more autonomy.
