Privacy-preserving Sharing of Genomic Data

    Abstract:
    While the uprising in the development of improved personalized medicine methods are to be highly insightful for new techniques, they demand large quantities of genomic data , extremely sensitive personal data that contain information unique to an individual, very disclosive regarding their health, expected diseases, skills… Anonymizing genomic data to make them non-personal and hence shareable under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is challenging as the usual anonymization methods based on data perturbation or generalization might have unknown consequences on the data. We propose a novel method that allows to safely store newly generated that that preserves information and allows the remote secure exchange of information, controlled by the owner, at any time.
