Using Songs to Teach the Grammar of Gerund Versus Infinitive in the EFL Сlassroom

  • Identification data

    Identifier:  TFM:1708
    Authors:  Vasileva, Aleksandra
    Abstract:
This research investigates the use of song excerpts for teaching gerunds and infinitives to young adults who are native Catalan/Spanish speakers. The study found that integrating music into lessons improved students’ grasp of these grammatical concepts, with the experimental group showing notable progress. However, the motivational impact of music was inconclusive. The method demonstrated long-term benefits, with the experimental group excelling in memory retention. This study underscores the potential of songs in grammar instruction, offering a fresh perspective on pedagogical practices.
