Title in different languages: Preoperative nursing consultation. Assessment of the impact on anxiety levels, satisfaction and adverse events in users of CMA
Abstract: Introduction: Ambulatory Surgery or Day Case Surgery is a multidisciplinary organizational model in which surgical procedures are performed without patient hospitalization. After a few hours under observation the patient will be discharged home where he will convalesce, hence the CMA mode requires a higher involvement of the user in the recovery process and higher education in postoperative care to ensure the success of the process. Besides, the operating room is a step that generates anxiety that affects the person in a biopsychosocial way and, nursing care in this type of surgery occurs in a short time. Objective: The main objective is to assess the impact of the implementation of preoperative nursing consultation on preoperative anxiety, satisfaction and adverse events compared to the usual protocol in patients needing CMA during the perioperative period in the Clínica Terres de l’Ebre of Tortosa, Tarragona. Methodology: The study is a randomized open-labeled clinical trial in which patients scheduled for CMA, aged >18 years old and who consent to participate in the study will be included. Patients excluded will be those under 18 years old, with healthcare profession, psychiatric disorders or with a disability in listening and / or reading. One hundred and two patients will be included in each group. The variables collected from both groups will include: sociodemographic aspects through an ad-hoc questionnaire, anxiety levels through STAI questionnaire, satisfaction through SUCMA14 questionnaire and adverse events through an ad-hoc questionnaire. A descriptive analysis and bivariate analysis will be performed with chi-square tests, T-Student and correlations as Raquel Estela Criado Personat Máster en Investigación en Ciencias de la Enfermería appropriate. SPSS version 22 for Windows will be used and a significance level of 0.05 will be assumed.
