Abstract: ABSTRACT TFM: THE WORLD IN OUR HANDS The fingerprints have been reinforced in our society as a bar code that identifies each one of the individuals that are part of the human species. That is why they are the most valuable test for researchers and scientists in this area. The present work intends to enter, albeit to a certain extent, in the world of criminal investigation. More specifically, in the field of fingerprints and how these are a valuable tool for criminal justice. Certainly, a study of fingerprints will lead us to discover the different methods and systems that have been used throughout history for their classification, and the detection of the characteristic features (minorities) of each fingerprint for the later identification But, why are fingerprints unique and unique? Are they determined in our genes? Are there two equal fingerprints? Are there two equal fingerprints?
