Verbs as support in the expression of emotions: Presence in monolingual SFL dictionaries

  • Identification data

    Identifier:  TFM:341
    Authors:  Huete García, Ángel
    Abstract:
Emotion expression is usually a very difficult sociocultural and linguistic fact for students of Spanish because of the wide variety of linguistic structures that exist to express them, whose correspondence is not usually the same between different languages. If we take into account the study of learning lexicography from a theoretical perspective by the lexicographers of the main international schools, such us the Centre of Lexicography (http://bcom.au.dk/research/academicareas/centreforlexicography/) of the Aarhus School of Business of the University of Aarhus Denmark (Henning Bergenholtz o Svent Tarp) or the Leuven Language Institute of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Jean Binon or Serge Verlinde), and the improvements of the information and communications technology (ICT) in academic circles; with this project we pretend to investigate how the constructions with verbs in Spanish used to express emotions in monolingual dictionaries E/LE, both on paper and on line, can provide objective data about this subject and identify the problems that make a dictionary not useful for all users.
