Abstract:
Introduction. Myasthenia gravis is a chronic disease with neuromuscular involvement characterized by a defective transmission of nerve impulses to the muscles, which greatly influences quality of life. Objective. To assess the impact of a coaching-based nursing intervention on the emotional aspects, risk factors and quality of life related to health in patients diagnosed with Myasthenia gravis. Methodology. A non-blinded randomized clinical trial will be conducted in which patients diagnosed with Myasthenia gravis residing in Catalonia, Spain, diagnosed with MG at least ≥ 6 months of duration, will be included in the units of the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital and Bellvitge University Hospital of Barcelona, and in the unit of the Joan XXIII University Hospital of Tarragona. 18 patients will be included in each group, but the health education will be carried out in the intervention group applying the coaching technique and using the Information and Communication Technologies, and the control group will receive the usual practice. The comparison of the pre-test and post-test results obtained in both groups will allow for an evaluation of the effectiveness of the intervention, made from the questionnaires administered at the beginning, and after 3 and 6 months. The sociodemographic and clinical data will be collected from an ad-hoc questionnaire and the emotional aspects will be assessed through the questionnaires Beck Anxiety Inventory and Beck-II Depression Inventory. The risk factors will be measured using the Modified Fatigue Impact Scale and the Nottingham Scale, and the quality of life will be assessed with the EQ-5D questionnaire and its analog scale. Adherence to pharmacological treatment will also be assessed through the Morisky-Green questionnaire. A descriptive and bivariate analysis will be carried out using chi-square, student T and correlations according to the obtained data. The statistical package SPSS version 25.
