    Abstract:
The COVID-19 pandemic has instigated teachers and students to abandon their physical classroom and move to online settings. Therefore, maintaining the quality of education has become a challenge during this temporary lockdown period. This study examines EFL teachers’ challenges towards implementing online teaching and learning during the lockdown period, particularly in pre-school education. A mixed-method approach was used to analyse the data collected from 11 EFL teachers. The findings reveal that online teaching and learning is not suitable for pre-school education because class activities, group works, contents and materials could not be successfully implemented in an online setting.
