    Abstract:
Forensic laboratories often have to deal with biological samples for which there is no clue about their origin. In consequence, they perform time consuming and sample wasting tests in order to identify the contents of the sample. The main objective of this thesis is to help designing and developing a new forensic kit called Universalplex for an early detection of major taxonomic groups in forensic samples of unknown origin. In a single multiplex PCR reaction, the amplification of three hypervariable regions for each taxonomic group is achieved as universal kingdom primers are used.
