Influence on the mechanical properties of various polymeric composites reinforced with GTR particles

A serious environmental problem, which affects us in industrialized countries for years, is the massive use of tires, which once used, generate large stocks of waste material. A common method for processing these used tires is mechanical crushing, in which fiber, steel and rubber are separated. This article fall on the reuse of the rubber obtained from these tires, also called GTR (Ground Tires Rubber), by mixing them with various polymeric composites commonly used in industry, in order to improve some of their mechanical properties, and at the same time, give out these surpluses that cause the tires already used. For this purpose, the article analyzes the mechanical properties of seven common thermoplastic polymers, which, when mixed with the GTR in various percentages and particle sizes of GTR, could be useful in industrial processes. From the results obtained, it is deduced that this proposal is valid, at least with some particle sizes and percentages of GTR analyzed.
