The digital collection of the National Library of France holds one of the best known maps of Tarragona during the 17th century, signed by Calbet and dated 1643. The discovery of a new anonymous map in the same library, which becomes one of the oldest maps of the town, shows the city with previously unknown urban buildings and structures. Thanks to the detailed analysis of its structures we can date it back to the Catalan Revolt or Guerra dels Segadors (1640-1652). The plan also shows structures that no longer exist, such as the Roman dock. The publication of this map reveals information about the topographical and urban evolution and allows one to get to know 17th-century Tarragona in depth.
