Resum:
The purpose of this paper is to review the current state of the subject and make an updated analysis of the impact that social media and social networks may have on the health of the adolescent population. Evidence shows that, although the media or social networks facilitate communication and learning, they can also lead to mental health problems, addiction, inefficient development of sexuality or cyberbullying, among others. In addition, it is observed that constant exposure to these technologies can influence the perception of body image and self-esteem of adolescents. All of this is contextualized in a significant lack of perception of these risks. Therefore, it is essential to develop strategies and regulations that guide the use of technologies and social media in a way that maximizes the benefits and minimizes the risks.
