Abstract: © 2019 Universidad de Talca. This paper intends an exploration regarding the principles developed so far within the framework of international environmental law, underlining how they have been organized around the paramount concept of sustainable development. Then its impact in the configuration of national constitutional law is analysed, aiming to appraisal how these principles can result into the axiological core of an eventual constitutional environmental law with a global vocation. At this point the weaknesses of the model as has been constructed historically are also examined, finishing by proposing a reconstruction, addressed to provide tools for an effective control of power, regarding the decisions which frame the human activity with environmental impact.
