    Forest fire risk has been studied from different angles but its economic valuation has been given relatively little attention. This paper discusses the main issues involved from the economic standpoint, presenting the results of an application designed to value the impact of reducing the forest fire risk in Catalonia by a half. The results and specific risk valuation problems are discussed in detail
