PROPOSAL FOR A VIRTUALIZATION MODEL FOR A VOCATIONAL TRAINING COURSE IN ELECTRICITY AND ELECTRONICS IN SPAIN

    In Spain, vocational education and training (VET) faces an enormous challenge due to increased enrolment in recent years and the current high demand for this type of training. Institutions must therefore continue to explore online or blended modalities in order to adapt to social, educational, training and employment needs. Due to their practical component, some online VET courses, such as those provided in the electricity and electronics field, have required face-to-face training or interaction with materials or resources that are unavailable in the home or in distance mode. The aim of this study is to design an entirely online training course in electricity. To do so, we used Design Based Research (DBR), which began with a systematic review of the literature to provide the knowledge needed to develop the model. This model was evaluated by a team of experts. Our results show that vocational training teachers who work in face-to-face mode are more critical when it comes to the types of activities and materials needed to prepare and develop the practical component. The experts also expressed concern for the model's financial viability owing to the type of activities performed, the materials employed, and the workload borne by teachers to perform this type of teaching.
