Abstract:
Evidence and narratives in healthcare: An anthropological perspective This book brings together a series of collective reflections that took place during the 10th REDAM Colloquium (Medical Anthropological Network) under the title "From evidence to narrative in healthcare: biopower and stories of afliction" in June 2013 in Tarragona. The aim of the colloquium was to analyse “narratives of evidence”, understood as strategies for constructing proof in biomedicine, and “evidence of narratives”, which is understood to mean that the main element which is or should be at stake in healthcare is illness as a form of suffering. The book contains articles from more than twenty authors from around the world that take a range of approaches to constructing an anthropological perspective on medical systems and human afflictions.
