    Resum:
Currently, Barcelona presents alterations due to the large number of tourists that harm architecture, culture, economy and society. When the term touristification is included, reference is made to decision-making in tourism policies that meet the needs of the visitor, these decisions have had an impact on the quality of life of the newcomer population, daring their displacement. Through the documentary compilation and statistical analysis, the factors that drive touristification in Barcelona were established, the effect of gentrification in tourist districts was analyzed, and the conditions that mass tourism left in one of the most visited cities in the world were identified. It was shown that despite the tourism management model prior to 2015, it was successful in terms of promoting and exponentially increasing tourism, the modifications in the current strategic plan have not met the proposed objectives, since the increase in factors was evident promoters of touristification, its influence on the displacement of the indigenous population and the negative criticism of the resident population on the effectiveness of current tourism strategies.
