    Abstract:
People with intellectual and developmental disabilities are deprived of equal opportunities and non-discrimination in the education system and the labour market. This communication examines from the perspective of young people with intellectual disabilities the impact of mentoring processes on social and labour market insertion. From a focus group of six young people with intellectual disabilities, the benefits of mentoring processes are analysed. This study has been developed during the COVID-19 crisis for this reason, the benefits of e-mentoring in a context of confinement characterized by social and physical isolation are also analysed. The results suggest that mentoring is crucial to promote the participation of people with intellectual disabilities in training and employment. The people who participated in the mentoring processes experienced personal development and increased their social capital. Also, e-mentoring is identified as a strategy that in a context of confinement allows to reduce social isolation and the digital divide. In conclusion, people with intellectual disabilities recognize the benefits of mentoring and support as a measure to promote social and labour market inclusion.
