Resumen: Strategies for producing urban land at the municipal level and the high level of housing production during the period 2000-2010 have shaped unique, but also extensive, housing markets around medium-sized and large cities. The result has been the creation of new social maps that have established new patterns of segregation at the supra- municipal scale. A study of the housing market, internal residential migration and population within the city of Lleida’s urban system since 2000 has allowed a classification of the new urbanization process taking place around medium-sized cities, which are territorially intensive, extensive and selective.
