Revamping of the vinyl chloride recovery unit

    Abstract:
    The aim of this project is to revamp the monomer recovery unit of a vinyl chloride polymerization plant. During the last years, the plant has suffered many changes in its production capacity. In order to assume all these changes, many modifications have been introduced in the general process maintaining the recovery unit or little modifying its configuration. For these reasons, the section can not cover the plant needs any longer. Besides, the changes mentioned mean a lake of homogeneity and simplicity in the unit. The function of the unit is to recover from different equipment in the general PVC process, the unreacted vinyl chloride. The aim of the project is to solve the current problems with a new design that its flexibility allows the unit to assume future increasement in production. A part from the equipment design, the project includes different analysis realized in security, environment, maintenance and operation. Finally, economic viability of the project has been analyzed.
