Nowadays, in full knowledge society, the incorporation of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in education at all levels can cause problems to educational institutions. The constant contact of the new generations with ICT and its use in all kinds of activities makes teacher training in the use of the technologies necessary from their initial training. It’s essential to make them aware of the methodological changes to its implementation in classrooms. The tasks of ICT training for teachers in their formative stages may provide the basis for future professional development, establishing a framework for lifelong learning. One of the main strategies of training in the use of ICT is based on collaborative online learning activities through Internet. From our point of view, online collaboration can enhance the initial training of teachers. Taking these and other reflections as a starting point, this thesis was originated. We decided, first, an initial diagnosis on the perception of our students on their third teaching ICT skills, then develop an intervention from the application of a Virtual Resource Center of Technology Education as part of the core course 'New Technologies Applied to Education', performing collaborative activities among students at the University Rovira i Virgili and University of Lleida. The first major section of this thesis, or theoretical framework and reference, is composed by sections like the process of introducing ICT in to Higher Education institutions, ICT and teaching resources, teachers training in basic ICT skills, the main methods of collaborative work and project based learning, and previous studies to our research. Below is a detailed explanation of the methodological characteristics of our study, based on the pillars of descriptive research and explain the phases of data collection instruments. This research was conducted during two courses (2005/06 and 2006/07). During the first course, a questionnaire from a previous research was adapted and applied, conducting a statistical validation process itself. A Virtual Resource Center from a previous research was also adapted and updated. Once validated the questionnaire and made the appropriate changes to the Resource Centre, the first one was applied during the next course in online format at the beginning and end of the training. During the development of the course 'New Technologies applied to Education', were carried out a series of collaborative activities among students in Tarragona and Lleida through the Resource Center. Subsequently, we conducted an analysis of data collected in questionnaires and communication spaces Resource Center, as well as productions by the students during the course, carrying out a quantitative and qualitative data analysis. The results obtained showed a reality that, although students are aware of ICT, they show some resistance while using it on academic activities. We can consider the Resource Center as well valuated in general terms, although students reveal several problems during its use (for example, they had to use BSCW for file sharing during the course activities) that would require prior to further improve implementation.
