Resum:
This study presents an outline of the historical background of the city of Tortosa in protohistoric and Roman times, and its relationship with the surrounding territory, in a chronological framework marked by profound changes, which is the period prior to the Second Punic War, the first centuries of Roman rule, and the full integration of the city and its region in the Roman world, consolidated in the August era. For the realization of the study several sources of information have been used, including data form the excavations that have been made in recent years. These include those from the archaeological excavations carried out in the city of Tortosa, where significant progress has been made in the understanding of the protohistoric occupation of the Suda hill, and the topography of the city in Early Roman times.
