Resum:
Anxiety is a diagnosis that is often associated with patients of intensive care units (ICU). Although the literature provides evidence to consider the problem of anxiety and related complications, little is known about how much impact has the anxiety in our cultural context and what factors determine that some people has higher levels of anxiety that other when they are discharged from theICU. A quantitative methodology was used for assessing anxiety levels in people admitted to the ICU before and after the transfer to the ward, using self-administered validated scale (State-Trait Anxiety Inventory) The results of this study provide information of our cultural environment to the knowledge available in order to provide better nursing care for patients discharged from ICU
