    Resum:
The main goals of this study were to evaluate and compare the Health Related Quality of Life (HRQOL) of people with End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) treated with High-Flux Hemodialysis (HF-HD) or On Line Hemodiafiltration (OL-HDF) in Terres de l’Ebre (TE) and describe the therapeutic itinerary for these people from the beginning of their symptoms to their current situation. A study of a “mixed methodology” was carried out during the second semester of 2014 and the whole year 2015 which was made up of two parts: initially an observational, analytic and transversal study was performed to collect socio-demographic and clinical data in an ad hoc form, and also HRQOL data collected from a form people with ESRD named the Kidney Disease Quality of Life Short Form (KDQOL-SF). Afterwards a phenomenological study was conducted in which semi-structured interviews, participant observations and notes from field-notes. As a bold result, we can underline this: People who live alone, without a partner, and had an education showed a better HRQOL. The people who received OL-HDF treatment showed a better nutritional state than the ones who received HF-HD, in the same way with the KDQOL-SF. Although women are better on dialysis than men, they had more pain, worse physical conditions and less vitality. The people with ESKD live absorbed in a constant transition where the experience they went through from the beginning of the symptoms until now, is influenced by a preconceived idea of CKD and for the long wait for a Renal Transplantation, also the suffering felt through the body, and the relationship between the body and the machine, the sociocultural conditions of the environment, where the age and gender are decisive factors.
