One of the greatest crises of violence that Ciudad Juárez has experienced in its recent history is a risk implicit in its nature as a border city, its proximity to the United States has brought about a series of implications that have been historically constructed and that have had repercussions in different areas (mainly social, economic and urban).
The neighborhood with the United States has implied a series of risks for Ciudad Juarez as the demographic swings, effects of the retraction or economic recovery depending on the dependence, globalization, industrialization, social and family desestructuration from the arrival of the transnational companies , violence, gender violence, transformation of the urban structure, social polarization, environmental risks, job insecurity, vulnerability of the population, everything finally forms part of the complex problem of violence.
Public space is a very important variable to understand violence in Ciudad Juarez, since that is where the power struggles between the criminal groups take place, it is the space in which part of the violence is exhibited and exerted, people feel insecure about remaining in it, especially in those abandoned, segregated and excluded spaces that do not have basic services and therefore become spaces conducive to crime.
