    This thesis focuses on the synthesis of new photosensitive polymers and their successive application in the preparation of photoactive microcapsules, incorporating Stenhouse-type photosensitive adducts (DASA) within polymeric matrices. Mainly two different approaches were followed. The first approach involves incorporation of DASA into the side chain of commercial polymers, specifically five copolymers of styrene and maleic anhydride (SMA) with different molecular weights and molar ratios. These modified polymers were then applied to obtain microcapsules containing different active agents, such as perfumes provided by Procter & Gamble Company. The second approach involves the modification of a monomer with a methacrylate group with DASA and its subsequent application for the preparation of microcapsules by interfacial polymerization. Both approaches lead to our ultimate goal: the preparation of capsules with Photocontrol release of the encapsulated ingredient.
