Resum:
This dissertation aims to broaden the knowledge of the rural habitats of the second and first centuries BC that are located in the region which during the Iberian period came to be known as Laietania. We focus on four case studies of settlements that appear to be both Iberian and Roman. We aim to carry out an internal and exhaustive analysis of this settlements and to do so, we analyse each site’s surroundings (water sources, communications networks and nearby sites), buildings, material remains (elements relating to architecture, decoration and furniture), building techniques and materials, modulation, the function of their spaces/rooms, the planning and structuring of the site, its economy and pottery ensembles and other significant artefacts (principally metals) or the building phases. At the same time and from the obtained data, another chapter is dedicated to defining the features of the establishments that we have recorded and the cultural influences that can be observed. We have identified three types of late Roman Republican habitations, those of the Iberians, which can be defined as rural settlements, those of the Romans, which we have identified as a Roman residence and a settlement related to a communications route.
