Resum:
Investments have been made throughout history under the capitalist world-system in which the economic factor is prioritised over other issues. Concern for the environment and the first instruments that took up this relationship between development, sustainability and investment have led to non-financial aspects being included in the investment incentive strategies developed by the actors involved and in investment decision-making. This doctoral thesis, through a multidisciplinary and comprehensive analysis of the regulatory frameworks that incentivise and involve so-called 'sustainable' investments in the European Union (hereafter EU) and Latin America and the Caribbean (hereafter LAC), aims to: (i) contribute to understanding the complexity of so-called 'sustainable' investments as a response instrument to promote activities to address the climate crisis; (ii) contrast the different existing reality in the EU and LAC in terms of investments; (iii) determine whether in the current scenario, 'sustainable' investments have effectively incorporated environmental, social and governance issues or continue to prioritise the economic factor; and (iv) develop a framework with proposals and measures that facilitate strategies for investments to fulfil the role of contributing to achieving global justice.
