    Resum:
Over the years, individuals with disabilities have consistently faced exclusion and have been treated as incapable of taking charge of their own lives. However, every person is entitled to the right to equality before the law. For this reason, international organizations such as the World Health Organization have sought to bridge the existing gap between people with disabilities and socially typical individuals through local legislation, international agreements, and more, all with the aim of ensuring full legal capacity for people with disabilities. This doctoral thesis primarily addresses the current state of legal capacity for individuals with hearing disabilities in Colombia. In this country, the government has put in place laws that protect deaf individuals, but there is a significant deficiency when it comes to implementing these laws. To highlight this issue, this research work involved fieldwork, which included surveys and interviews with deaf people, legal personnel, and sign language interpreters.
