    Resum:
The thesis addresses whether children with ADHD have a less healthy diet and higher overweight/obesity prevalence compared to children without neurodevelopmental disorders, while also exploring the possibility of probiotics mitigating symptoms in children with ADHD and ASD. It is based on data from three independent projects: EPINED, MetigenADHD, and PRONED, which collaborate closely. Findings suggest all participants need to improve their dietary habits, with an association between ADHD and unhealthy dietary patterns. Additionally, differences in anthropometric measures are observed among children with different ADHD presentations. Probiotic intervention appears to reduce hyperactivity/impulsivity, especially in younger children with ADHD, and improve the quality of life in children with ASD. In summary, participants with ADHD and their control peers show poor dietary intake, while probiotic intervention could offer benefits in symptom management.
