    Solar photovoltaics stand out as a superior alternative among renewable energy sources, making the highest contribution across various sectors including transport, buildings, and power generation. Furthermore, the adoption of solar photovoltaic technology leads to a significant reduction in the emissions generated by fossil fuels. Recent efforts in the field have focused on perovskite solar cells, which typically consist of a light-absorbing perovskite material, charge-transporting materials, and metallic electrodes. Among these components, charge-transporting play a critical role in the transport and separation of charge carriers within the perovskite device. Despite significant advancements in developing cost-effective perovskite technologies with high performance, challenges remain in their commercialisation due to their low-performance and poor stability. Therefore, this thesis aims to develop new organic small molecules through simple synthetic routes utilising inexpensive starting materials and easy purification processes. They have been applied as hole-transporting materials in perovskite solar cells to investigate the complex relationship between their molecular structure and device performance. Additionally, the research aims to gain a fundamental understanding of the essential characteristics required for effective hole-transporting materials to achieve stable and high-performance perovskite solar devices, thereby advancing their commercialization efforts.
