The humanisation of care in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) refers to the application of a healthcare approach based on both clinical care and the emotional, psychological and social needs of children and their families. The Family-Centred Care model promotes active collaboration and family involvement. This research was carried out with the aim of determining the degree of satisfaction of families admitted to the humanised PICU and to analyse the experiences of families admitted to the PICU. To this end, we chose to work with a mixed methodology. On the one hand, a cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out on the satisfaction of 232 PICU families and on the other, a phenomenological analysis was carried out through semi-structured group interviews with 12 families. The results of the research provide insight into family satisfaction and adaptation through family perceptions of living together in a PICU, contributing to clinical practice by identifying the transitional stages of the process of change in the state of health, as perceived by the families, with the adaptation of health actions, as an integrative process in the humanised care of the PICU.
