    Abstract:
The thesis analyzes the social construction of the Ebro Delta Natural Park – from its beginnings up to the implementation of the second phase of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism. This is done through a simultaneous study of the park, relevant public administrations, and leisure activity firms which emerge thanks to the area being designated a Protected Natural Area. The analysis is taken from an interpretative perspective and an epistemological position of social construction of a contextual character. It involves the study of a single explanatory embedded case with different units of analysis, together with extensive field work in two stages: contextualization, and a qualitative thematic data analysis using MAXQDA software. We find a typology with three kinds of leisure activity firms showing differences in their characteristics, their relationship with their environment, their mid and long term objectives, their organization, business project conception, and the range of activities they offer.
