    Abstract:
The microscopic fungi are essential in all ecosystems. However, despite its great importance, the number of fungal species described to date is significantly below the estimated number. Of about 1000 samples of plant material and soil collected in natural areas from the Iberian Peninsula, we identified a total of 602 dematiaceous anamorphic fungal strains, distributed in 128 genera, corresponding to 316 species. Of these, 88 represent first records for the Iberian mycological catalog and 21 taxa were proposed as new species. Phylogenetic analyses of the sequences obtained from the ribosomal genes: 18S and / or ITS and / or 28S (D1/D2) of 80 strains that confirmed that all strains studied are anamorphs of ascomycetes belonging to the Subphylum Pezizomycotina. The strains were located mainly in the Sordariomycetes (61.3%), followed by the Dothideomycetes (25%) and a few in the Leotiomycetes (8.7%) and the Eurotiomycetes (5%).
