Abstract:
Small scale cogeneration systems can be suitable for the efficient use of energy in the tertiary sector. Some cogeneration systems are available in the market for small scale applications using microturbines or reciprocating internal combustion engines among other systems that could be applied successfully in the tertiary sector. There are also small capacity thermally driven cooling technologies able to provide chilled water by recovering the waste heat from the cogeneration equipment mentioned above. By the combination of both systems various configurations known as trigeneration systems can be set for the efficient and simultaneous production of cold, heat and electricity at different ratios. The aim of this thesis is to develop a multi-functional test bench to test and characterize thermally small capacity equipment and to establish test procedures for them working both at full load and part load.
