    Abstract:
This doctoral thesis, called “The supply and use of constructive and ornamental stones in the city of Girona between its origins and mid-XIth century”, focuses on the study of all lithic productions (both constructive and ornamental) in the city and immediate area of Girona. The cronological framework of this research develops from the previous foundational context of Gerunda, between the 2nd and 1st centuries BC, in the Late Roman Republic, with the focus on the oppidum of Sant Julià de Ramis (*kerunta), and the County times, during the mid-11th century. To bring about the study it has been carried out a catalogue of all lithic productions and the characterisation of its raw material. In this sense, one of the main objectives of this study is the lithic characterisation with the aim to determine its origins as well as to reflect on the dynamics of supplies, use, and trade carried out by the internal lithic industry (within the city itself) and external ones (imported stones: regional and mediterranean) for each specific period of the study and, finally, at a diachronic level.
