Abstract:
Chronic inflammation is the etiopathogenic basis of various metabolic, infectious, and autoimmune diseases, leading to clinical complications. In recent years, several studies have identified different molecules that are part of the chronic inflammatory process such as high sensitivity C reactive protein (hsCRP) or interleukin 6 (IL-6) to establish them as prognostic markers of the disease. However, the great complexity of chronic inflammation makes them too limited, justifying the search for new more robust markers. The signal of glycoproteins quantified by Proton Nuclear Magnetic Resonance 1H-NMR (GlycA, GlycB, H / W GlycA and H / W GlycB) are a composed biomarker of integrated concentrations and glycosylation states of the most abundant acute phase proteins in the serum. The composite origin of the glycoprotein signal, which measures the extent and complexity of N-glycosylation of various plasma proteins, provides an overview of the 'general inflammatory state of the body.' The aim of this thesis is to evaluate 1H-NMR glycoproteins as a biomarker of subclinical chronic inflammation and their prognostic role in a population of PLWH (people living with HIV) non responders, in a population of PLWH elite controlers and in a group of patients with familial heterozygous hypercholesterolemia (HF). In this work, glycoproteins have been shown to be more potent predictors of immunodeficiency than baseline CD4 + levels and that hsCRP for the prediction of carotid plaque development in patients with HF
