    Abstract:
    This doctoral thesis addresses the problem of bilingual intercultural education in the context of the indigenous communities of the Otavalo canton, Imbabura province, Ecuador. The purpose of the research has been to strengthen the teaching processes through some tools. The methodology used is framed within the Participatory Action Research (IAP) model, applied to the educational field. The process was developed from documentary research, which allowed establishing the conceptual framework and the categories of analysis. Subsequently, the the methodological design was elaborated and applied to 95 participating teachers. The techniques used were the focus group and the participant observation. The thesis is accepted as a compendium of articles, the results obtained have been reflected in four main works. A first article, which analyzes knowledge management from an intercultural perspective. A second article that exposes the results obtained through the application exercise of a methodological tool in the context of emerging virtual teaching during the pandemic. The third article summarizes the work in educational institutions during the investigation. Finally, a book chapter that collects teaching experiences during the pandemic period.
