Abstract:
The hypothesis that supports this work is that the emergence of collaborative platforms such as Airbnb has a social impact in the field of neighborhood communities where the arrival of these platforms – with the consequent increase in tourist activity that attracts an audience other than the local population – modified the habits of residential behavior of its inhabitants and the daily life of the neighbors as an effect of the touristification of the housing. That is to say that the thesis focuses on the social issue of this impact linked to the changes produced by the increase in tourists and their activities in their temporary stay, as well as investigating how their attitudes and actions affect the residents of a community. Based on this initial hypothesis, this research aims to analyze the effects generated by the arrival of the collaborative economy (such as Airbnb) in the process of touristification of certain neighborhoods of the City of Barcelona
