Abstract:
The aim of this research is to analyse the training activities far pupils provided by the Catalan Regional Police. With the aim of designing new guidelines to increase the effectiveness of these activities and, above all, to include the needs of the schools, in relation to pupils, teachers, families and the community as a whole. The central hypothesis is that the activities offered by the Autonomous Poiice of Catalonia do not respond to the preferences and needs of each school and that the activities are designed, above all, by the police headquarters. lt is necessary to take into account each social context in arder to reduce social and environmental problems. To this end, it is highly recommended to act in coordination with the social services in the area in arder to make the interventions more effective and have a greater impact. A mixed quantitative and qualitative methodology was used and questionnaires and interviews were carried out. The sample consisted of 7 schools located in different areas of Catalonia. In each of the schools analysed, 491 student questionnaires, 60 interviews and 7 classroom observations were carried out. The results of this research show that the training efforts made by the Autonomous Police of Catalonia are not sufficiently adapted to the educational interests of each community.
