    Abstract:
This thesis investigates whether the impulsive personality trait is longitudinally associated with dietary patterns and the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. It also examines whether glycemic markers are related to impulsivity and cognitive decline, and whether participants with COVID-19 exhibited cognitive decline and depression. Higher impulsivity was associated with lower adherence to healthy dietary patterns and an increased risk of chronic diseases. Glycemic dysregulations were linked to cognitive declines and increases in impulsivity. Among those affected by COVID-19, the odds of developing depression were higher, although cognitive decline was not observed. The results suggest that impulsivity is a key factor in the risk of chronic diseases and that glycemic control could prevent cognitive decline and manage impulsivity. Monitoring the impact of COVID-19 on psychological health remains crucial.
