    Abstract:
In recent years, the assessment and tractament of thoracolumbar burst fracture has changed. The aim of this study is to evaluation differences in mechanical behavior of systems of transpedicular screw fixation and posterior rods, in a burst fracture, synthesizing the vertebra fractured or not. 20 samples were tested in the T11-L3 spine cadaveric pigs' specimens.Of the 20 specimens, once triggered burst fractures, 10 were separated to implement the configuration of 4 transpedicular screws and posterior rods without included fractured vertebra and 10 samples for 6- transpedicular screws and posterior rods including the fractured vertebra. Once synthesized fractured we made radiographs of both assemblies, and resubmitted samples to flexion and extension forces and torque up to the failure of the assembly. Following the outcome is a tendency that shows that both in flexion-compression and in torsion, the configuration in which the fractured vertebra is implemented, is more rigid than not.
