Abstract:
The research is an approach to the diagnosis of the urban fabric from a socioacoustic point of view. A theoretical framework and a case study focused on the historic center of the city of Tarragona are presented. Based on a long-term fieldwork and thirty open interviews, the author delves into the imaginaries and interpretive practices of the quoted urban public sector and composes a description and analysis leading to a characterization of the sonic environments and ambiances of a sector in constant transformation. A description that accounts for the process of gentrification affecting social, economic and urban development in the urban area in question.
