    Resumen:
The present research examines three Spanish format adaptations of American series, with the aim of describing their standards of production. These series are Party of Five, The Golden Girls and Cheers. The work applies a multidisciplinar methodology and studies the series from a textual point of view, but also from a contextual one, and through some interviews with its executive producers and screenwriters. From this study, a main debate emerges about the negative and positive consequences of the americanization of television content and culture. A second debate deals with the exigencies of generalist Spanish networks of adapting the series with a family audience as its target, thus trying to offer more entertaining and politically correct content. Nevertheless, these fictions failed in connecting with local audiences due to, among other reasons, and according to the autor, a cultural limitation for his complete “spanification”.
