Influencia de la expresión emocional en el impacto de la cefalea primaria

    Descriptive study to determine the influence of certain cognitive and emotional variables of emotional expression, on the impact of primary headache, statistically controlling for socio-demographic and clinical characteristics, personality, anxiety, depression and stressful life events. Sample of 137 subjects (18-55 years), of the neurology outpatient clinic of Sant Joan de Reus Hospital (2010-2011). Cognitive-emotional variables associated with the greatest impact were: neuroticism and psychoticism (personality), trait anxiety, depression, trait anger, anger’s temperament, anger index expression, alexithymia total score and its dimension of difficulty identify feelings. The most determining the impact of headache were, in order: anxiety, external control of anger, smoking, analgesic overuse headache and female sex.
