Estrés de los estudiantes de enfermeria en las prácticas clínicas: diseño y efectividad de un programa de intervención

Clinical practicum is an important part of an undergraduate’s studies from the outset of their nursing studies. It is here where the theoretical and methodological knowledge of nursing studies becomes practical. A quasi-experimental analytic study was carried out pre- and post-intervention with URV nursing students during the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 courses. We used mixed methodology to design our investigation. On the one hand, we used quantitative methodology with questionnaires, and, on the other hand, we followed the techniques of the focus group to collect information. The most significant of our results included the following: The first phase (which we called the “diagnostic” phase) shows that the highest stress level obtained at the three campus was in factor 1 “lack of responsibility”. The second highest was in factor 4 “impotence and uncertainty”, with the CTE showing the highest values of all three campuses. The second phase (called “intervention and effectiveness”) was focussed on carrying out a programme of intervention on CTE students as a pilot test and measuring its effectiveness. To assess the effectiveness of such an intervention, stress levels from before and after the intervention were compared, as were the reductions in stress observed during the course with or without this intervention. The results show a stronger reduction in stress after carrying out the intervention.
