    Resumen:
Preoperative anxiety in children is a common phenomenon that has been associated with a number of negative behaviors during the surgical experience. However, hospitals performing nursing educational therapeutic actions are a minority. The hospital’s therapeutic game can be accompanied by home support to help children to have a positive experience of their surgery. Goals: Determine the experience of anxiety in pediatric surgery. Relate the level of anxiety of the children with the information received in the hospital. Evaluate the usefulness of a hospitable therapeutic workshop. Evaluate the usefulness of the home work under the indications of hospital work. Aim: Assess the anxiety experience of children in a scheduled surgical process in relation to the information and support. Methodology: A prospective, longitudinal observational study performed in the area of pediatric surgery at the Florence Nightingale Children's Hospital in Düsseldorf, Germany. A didactic literary work (Marie war im Krankenhaus) and a therapeutic educational workshop were created and applied to a sample of 167 children. A univariate quantitative statistical analysis was performed. Results: We included 333 children candidates for scheduled surgery with home admission and CMA. Two groups were formed; the first group followed the ordinary surgical circuit of the hospital and the second group participated in an individualized therapeutic program that was reinforced in the home setting. Children who did not participate in the study had a higher average level of anxiety in the different phases of the research, compared to children who were included in the study who showed a lower level of anxiety in each of the phases.
